Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of a Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration subscription?

Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration is $750 per year, per channel with an auto-renewal subscription.

What is a Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration channel?

A ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration subscription by default includes one channel, which covers one device. If you have more than one ClearCaster, you will need a channel for each device you wish to have active and use. Channels are transferable within your account. If you need to retire one of your devices, its channel can be used with another one of your ClearCaster devices.

What does a Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration subscription include?

Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration includes access to our cloud-based ClearCaster manager and GraphQL API, software updates, access to new features, and standard support from Wowza. It does not include hardware, which must be purchased separately. New Hardware can be purchased through our third-party vendor CIARA, a Hypertec brand.

What is considered a legacy ClearCaster unit?

Legacy ClearCaster devices include ClearCaster Pros and any ClearCaster device purchased prior to September 1, 2020.

What happens if I don’t purchase a ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration subscription?

Any new ClearCaster devices will not be able to stream unless there is an active subscription with enough channels for all devices. For legacy ClearCaster devices, once your current Maintenance and Support contract expires, your legacy ClearCaster devices will begin to run in Subscription Expired Mode. You will only have access to a single template that can stream to a single destination at 1080p60.

What is Subscription Expired mode?

Subscription Expired mode is the state your legacy ClearCaster device will enter if you do not have an existing Maintenance and Support contract or a ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration Subscription. You will only have access to a single template that can stream to a single destination at 1080p60. Archived logs or recordings from the cloud will not be available.

Can I cancel or return my Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration order?

No. Wowza has a no returns or cancellations policy for Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration sales.

How does support work for Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration?

Standard support is included with purchase of Wowza ClearCaster Cloud Orchestration. Support includes email and web-based ticketing. Users can also access our free online user forums. Customers who purchase higher levels of Wowza support, such as Silver, Gold or Platinum will receive the additional benefits that those plans offer.

How does the Hardware warranty work?

If you have an issue with your ClearCaster streaming encoder, you can contact Wowza through valid support methods. If Wowza confirms there is an issue with your appliance, they will contact the Hardware manufacturer who will then issue a replacement. Wowza support will continue to assist with legacy devices with Hardware issues while your device is still covered under your initial Hardware warranty. Renewing or extending Hardware warranty is not available on legacy units. If you require units with active Hardware warranty, you can check out our new ClearCaster appliance.

How is ClearCaster Support changing?

We are restructuring ClearCaster support to align with the support model for our other products. Standard support comes included and you can purchase premium support if you desire. Support plans specifics can be found here.
